Rezolut Launches SecondReadAI™, powered by Lunit

Latest News

Rezolut, LLC has introduced a new artificial intelligence (AI) tool, SecondReadAI™, designed to enhance the accuracy of mammogram analyses. This innovation, powered by AI algorithms developed by Lunit®, was unveiled during the company’s annual presentation and aims to support radiologists in identifying potential signs of breast cancer that might be missed during initial readings.

SecondReadAI employs advanced deep learning techniques to scrutinize mammography images, providing radiologists with detailed insights that complement their expertise. Unlike traditional methods, which rely solely on human interpretation, this AI-driven technology analyzes far more images than a radiologist could review in their career, potentially leading to more accurate diagnoses and earlier detection of breast cancer.

The system’s key features include its ability to detect subtle abnormalities with high accuracy, thus enhancing the diagnostic process. Clinical studies have shown that Lunit INSIGHT™, the software behind SecondReadAI, can increase early-stage breast cancer detection by up to 15%. Additionally, the AI streamlines the workflow by automating certain aspects of the diagnostic process, reducing the time required for interpretation, and potentially lowering the rate of unnecessary callbacks and false positives.

The technology also serves as a quality assurance tool, offering a second opinion that can help minimize the risk of missed diagnoses. Research indicates that radiologists using AI have increased cancer detection rates by 10%, particularly in cases involving dense breast tissue, which can be challenging to assess.

Rezolut’s adoption of SecondReadAI reflects the company’s commitment to leveraging innovative technologies to improve healthcare outcomes. As breast cancer remains a significant global health concern, early detection is critical in enhancing survival rates.

Several patients at Rezolut’s Southtowns Radiology centers have already benefited from the new technology, with SecondReadAI identifying cancers that were not initially visible through traditional mammography. Dr. Asha Ziembiec, President of Southtowns Radiology, noted that these early detections have allowed for prompt interventions, potentially improving patient outcomes.

SecondReadAI is available as an optional service at Rezolut’s Southtowns Radiology centers in Hamburg and Orchard Park, NY, with plans to expand to other locations. The service is offered for an out-of-pocket charge, and patients can use health reimbursement accounts such as HSAs and FSAs to cover the cost. No additional imaging or appointment time is required for this AI-enhanced analysis.
